Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of therapy do you practice?
I am a psychodynamic practitioner, which means I help clients build and deepen insight into how past relationships may inform present feelings, thoughts and patterns of behavior. I draw on a variety of modalities in session including Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness skills, attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I currently am in network with Aetna. Cost to the client is determined on an individual basis through the help of a third party billing company with whom I work. Automated systems at Headway can help determine co-pay amount or if a deductible remains outstanding before beginning treatment.
What is your rate if I am not insured or not in-network with that insurance?
My full fee is $185/individual session and $225/couples therapy session. For those who hold other insurance that I am not paneled with, a superbill can be provided to submit for retroactive reimbursement direct to client when applicable (out-of-network benefits).
I have sliding scale slots available for clients where paying the full fee would be a financial barrier to regular care; for those folks, a rate can be collaboratively agreed upon prior to engaging in therapy. If you’re interested in working with me and cost is prohibitive, please let me know and we can discuss possible options.
How and when do I pay?
If using insurance, Headway’s interface will process the co-payment/co-insurance with a card on file. If paying outside of insurance, I accept payments via major debit/credit cards, including FSA accounts, or Zelle. Payment is expected within 24 hours of session. For sessions missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, my full fee will be charged.
How long will we be meeting and where ?
I meet with folks for 53 minute sessions, both in-person and remotely. Further information about location will be provided upon scheduling.
What do I do if I am experiencing a crisis or life threatening emergency?
If your safety or the safety of someone else is at risk, please go to your nearest emergency room, call either 988 (in case of a mental health emergency) or 911 (in case of need for police/EMS intervention).
